The Canadian Petroleum Institute is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that delivers Canada’s energy expertise to the world.  For twenty five years, we have brought together Canada’s most respected petroleum experts from the private sector, service and operating companies, government regulatory agencies and leading educational institutions, providing our global clientele with wolrd-class training and insight into every aspect of the oil and gas value chain. 

Anchored by a highly experienced senior management team, our two shareholders are the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta.  We count among our stakeholders the Government of Alberta and representatives from across the entire energy sector.  Our diverse board of directors includes representatives from service, drilling and pipeline companies, from educational institutions and from government.

The Canadian Petroleum Institute was founded in 1982 for the purpose of sharing Canada’s oil and gas expertise with the world.  Since then we have continued to grow and evolve the services we offer our global clientele to include a range of customisable training courses, professional development and consulting services.  Our worldwide network of affiliates, consultants and educators enables us to deliver our training programs and consulting services around the world.

Our flagship educational offering is our Executive Program, a four week long intensive training program for high-level and high-potential oil and gas executives, held each year in Alberta, Canada.
